The event is often held in the grounds of Ragley Hall , The Hall and grounds are beautiful it has been the ancestral seat of the Hertford family for over 300 years and is set in thousands of acres of its own estate overlooking unspoilt Warwickshire countryside.

Their are a few reasons why I like this event so much, please note that these are in no particular order a) usually the weather is kind to us b) Fran’s picnic c) the fabulous people we meet d) it is very well organised e) we are surrounded by dogs f) we raise funds for Evesham Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue (EGLR).

For me the journey to this event is relatively short and very pretty for the majority of the run, Sunday motoring, when up bright and early is pleasurable , Ragley Hall is a treat, parking is straightforward (you can park the car behind the gazebos for easy unloading of equipment and stock, those of you who do these types of events regularly will know what a bonus this is) and our pitch is always lakeside.

As i mentioned earlier I attend this event on behalf of Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue and although it raises much needed funds but these events are about much more than this.

Here are just a few of the benefits of this event, I am sure that there are more;

  1. raising awareness of the plight of Lurchers/sighthounds

  2. demonstrating to the public what fabulous companions they make ( with the help of our own hounds and those looking for homes that pop along and join us).

  3. meeting up with EGLR fundraising buddies.

  4. seeing the joy on peoples faces when they bring their EGLR adopted hound to come and see us ~ this is one of our favourite bits, we see some people on an annual basis at this show, they come looking for us and it’s just like meeting old friends both 4 or in some cases 3 legged and 2.

  5. providing information to people who are considering adopting a lurcher ( or in some cases honorary lurchers) about the dogs we currently have in rescue looking for homes.

If you are relatively local and want to pop along to what really is a fabulous day out then please dont forget to come over and see us on the EGLR stall, we are very friendly and love a chat, plus you won’t have any trouble finding us thanks to our gazebo sponsors the beautiful Lurcher girls Peggy and Tess. click on the source link below it will give you all the details.

I enjoy these events so much that next year you may see me out and about at local events with a Miss Maggie pink Gazebo ………….watch this space
